Music is a passion for Linda Rose, expressing her deepest emotions through her writing

www.soundcloud.com/lindarose/Linda first started writing songs when she was in her teens, and has developed this exploration into musical pieces both with and without voice. She writes on the piano and has now developed some limited keyboard use bringing other instruments in to complement the sound. With limited recording equipment many pieces are not recorded well enough to reproduce on this website but her full range of music can be experienced on soundcloud.com/lindarose where it is divided into five sets: three full musicals and two other compilations and new songs are being added regularly.

Linda predominantly enjoys the Celtic influence, which can be seen in some of her music, and favours such bands as Enya and Iona, David Arkenstone, and Miriam who combine different sounds in a mystical air. Linda looks for emotional expression - both in writing as an outflow of her depression, but also to express her faith and other positive influences on her life. 'If music has no emotion it is dead; it is the emotions in the music that engages us' she writes.
This is an area of her life she would like to develop, especially wanting to learn the bodhran and harp but is the first area to be put aside when she is travelling and working on her creative healing therapies.
Musicals
Our Town (2012)
Our Town is based on the parable of the Prodigal Son and was written especially for children to perform.
It is the story of 'Our Town' which is run by the very long-term Mayor, who insists that to fit in everyone must wear a smile at all times; but in reality he doesn't care about anyone's welfare. Poor Bonnie's life has become hard and she cannot smile any more, so the Mayor is worried she will effect the 'Happiest Town' competition and so she is sent from the town to live in the Big City. The Mayor's long-suffering Clerk is sent to tell Bonnie the bad news of her eviction, and he worries about her, knowing that the road Bonnie must pass between the Big City and Our Town is a dangerous place full of robbers who hae been evicted from their homes previously. The Mayor, however, has bigger worries than Bonnie's fate, as he wants his delivery of champagne from the Big City in his anticipation of getting the Happiest Town award for the tenth year running.
The Mayor sends his terrified Clerk to find his champagne but the poor Clerk is beaten by the robbers on the way. Who will help him, or will he be left stranded between the Our Town and the Big City?

The Strangest Night (2001)
A re-telling of the real Christmas story as told by Grandmother recounting her memories to the children of her childhood experiences. She was the innkeeper's daughter who saw so many things on that 'Strangest Night' - the first Christmas. The script draws together the different threads of the story of Mary and Joseph, the Old Testament prophesies, and how they are unexpectedly fulfilled by God's providence and planning, along with all the radically different people who were brought together through this one event of a baby's birth - shepherds, eastern mystics, Kings, prophetesses and old Temple goers.

A full script suitable for all ages is available and backing music for people to use for their own productions. This musical was performed in 2001 and 2011 to great reviews. The recordings are made with the 2011 cast.

The Journey (1998)
The Journey is based on the parable of the Prodigal Son in the Bible. The original story illustrates God's relationship to us when we run away and actively seek selfish and self destructive pleasures, going against His Plan for our lives; but even when we feel hopeless and empty He not only is still waiting for us but runs towards us and scoops us into His arms and celebrates our return.
The Journey is a modern rendition, about a young man, Nathan, whose mother has died and who wants to run away from the expectations to join the family factory business. There is, of course, the love interest, which is a love triangle with the older brother, Matt, also in love with the same girl. The younger son explores the world, becoming ever more decadent and involved in chaotic sex and drug use with the hangers-on of the rich, and ends up in the famous 'city of sin' Las Vegas, where his luck and money run out. Taken on as a penniless, hungry 'illegal alien' by a ruthless cowboy, Nathan finally comes to his senses and realises how much better off he would be working for his father. Will his father forgive him, how will his brother receive him - is his girl still waiting? A triumphant ending, as to be expected, brings it all together for a joyful finale.
The backing music is available (poorly recorded) with the script, but as yet to have the voices recorded. The plan is to re-record with voices and improved recording equipment in the near future.
